    Details

When charging devices from a laptop or computer USB port, the charging power is limited, resulting in slower charging and longer time for the charge to be complete. However, using the Satechi uCharger Hi-Speed USB Charging Adaptor, charging speed from a laptop or computer USB port increases up to 4 times faster. The uCharger works by detecting the charging specifications required by your device and exchanging protocols with the computer to match the charging power required by your device. Charge smartphones, tablets, music players, e-readers, portable batteries, cameras, handheld video game consoles, and more from the USB port of your laptop, as quickly as charging from a wall outlet when using the uCharger.

Access Powerful Charge from any Computer
Simply plug the uCharger into the USB port of any computer or laptop (not USB hub), to rapidly and easily charge your devices, such as smartphones and tablets.

    Quickly Charge While On-The-Go
Outlet plugs are limited while traveling and it’s important to quickly charge devices so you can get going. The uCharger allows you to charge your smartphone or camera quickly from your laptop USB port, allowing you to adhere to your travel itinerary, rather than being tethered to the wall waiting for your devices to charge. This tiny device (1.75 x 0.74 x 0.4 inches / 0.6 oz) easily fits into your pocket to take with you wherever you go.

    Toggle Between Modes
Press the LED Mode Selector button to switch between Apple/iOS charging (blue LED) and Samsung Galaxy/Android charging (red LED). When the LED indicator is off, the uCharger is ready to allow for data sync.

    Charging Modes:
(Blue LED): all devices except Galaxy Tab
(Red LED): all devices except iPad
(LED Off): data transfer only, no charging

Which (Red LED or Blue LED) selects the higher "available current" charging...

Which (Red LED or Blue LED) selects the higher "available current" charging mode of 2.1A? I.e., it would be much better to *also* provide the actual electrical info in the specifications for each color, please, since I am not using a "Galaxy Tab" or "iPad". Reason is: I want to charge my Kindle Fire HD at the maximum current available, and simplistic instructions on the back of the package like "(Blue LED): all devices except Galaxy Tab" and "(Red LED): all devices except iPad" are not really meaningful.

    • A.

The output current of the uCharger is 700mA-2100mA. This will vary depending upon the charging current designated by your computers USB port. The U-Charger exchanges protocols with the PC and sets a greater current limit then what the PCs USB port would originally output to your device. For example if you are using a standard USB charge cable it will output 500mA max (without the uCharger). When the uCharger is connected the USB charge cable will then output 1A – 1.6A. Both charge modes (blue/red) will output the same amount of power.

How many uChargers can I connect to my computer?

    • A.

You can use as many uChargers as there are available USB ports on your computer. However, for best performance do not exceed the maximum USB charging current designated by your computer. For example, if your computer allows for 3.5A of USB current, you can plug up to two uChargers. If your computer allows for 4.5A, you can use up to 3 uChargers.

Works when nothing else does Having a phone or tablet that a laptop cannot charge is extremely annoying. My tablet won't charge in any USB port on my laptop, regardless of any other things removed or added.

Add this small thing in series, and voila - now works.

This tells your laptop that the device is now a master (normal is a slave), which allows more current to be drawn. This is enough to allow the tablet to charge.

Please note, not all devices will work. A friends doesn't work, but the device is old and crappy so who knows. Either way for the $16 to be able to charge from a laptop any device that before you can't - really it's a savings.

For those traveling trying to keep cord and peripheral count down, this is so easy.

If you're really in a hurry... Verified that the uCharger was indeed helping pull more power using a Centech USB Power Meter. The improvement in charging speed will vary depending on how much extra power the system actually grants, but will more than likely to be quicker than just a direct connection.

Charge super fast Every android and iOS device can be charged super fast through any computer USB port. Even my iPad which won't charge at all charges off my laptop in a pinch. Great great adapter.
