Great stand - even MacWorld highly recommends it!
I have an iPad case that can flip back and hold my iPad upright, but I wanted/needed something more sturdy, aesthetically pleasing and more Apple like. On May 9th, 2013 MacWorld published a review online of iPad stands and the Satechi R1 Arm Hinge Holder Stand was rated one of the top recommended choices. I have tried many other brands and types of stands, and this one by far has over exceeded my expectations.
The stand is made of beautiful brushed aluminum with rubber grips on the bottom, one the back that supports the iPad and two on the grips. You can place your iPad or tablet in portrait on landscape mode and the R1holds in securely. There is a small amount of movement when typing, but this is not a problem.
You can adjust it to it seems like an infinite variety of angles and heights. (My only worry is that the two adjustable mechanisms may become loose over time and there is no way to tighten them that I could see). If you have the back arm vertical and the grips more than 45°, the iPad could tip over as the base does not have enough weight to keep it upright. A very doubtful scenario, but a warning just in case. At maximum height, my iPad 2 top stands right at 11 inches. I keep my plastic back case on for times when I want the iPad out of the holder and it fits in the grips easily. You could place a wireless keyboard underneath the front of the stand to make it look real "Mac like".
It comes with a nice carrying/storage pouch, but it is too pretty to ever put away. It has become a permanent part of my kitchen now. It is right next to the phone and has helped make the iPad a place to leave notes and keep track of appointments as it fits in perfectly with the stainless steel appliances in my kitchen. It is lightweight and easy to move. Another winner from Satechi!
