Hi. I started using your Smart Trigger with my iPhone 5 and my Canon 60D camera a while ago, and it worked great. I have not used it in a while, but now I cannot even pair it to my camera. My iPhone says it is connected but I never see the red connected icon. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

    • A.

You may need to hard restart the iPhone. To do so press the home button and the power button at the same. After, please try the following?

Rest assured, you do not have to delete anything or undergo a lengthy re-pair process every time you use the Smart Trigger.

Let’s first try getting the Smart Trigger to its out-of-the-box state. Please remove and reinsert the batteries of the Smart Trigger receiver. Next, in your iPhone delete the Smart Trigger from your Bluetooth settings. Then, in the Smart Trigger app, go to the “Scan” menu and slide your finger across “Smart Trigger” to reveal a delete button: press this button. Then, quit the Smart Trigger app (while on the home page of your iPhone, double click the home button. Swipe the Smart Trigger app window upward, to quit the app.

Your Smart Trigger and phone should now be ready to setup as new.

Next, in your iPhone with Bluetooth turned on, open the Smart Trigger app. Navigate to the “Scan” menu and touch “Scan.” Hold the button on top of the Smart Trigger receiver for four seconds; while holding the button, the light on the receiver will flash rapidly 3-4 times, then blink steadily. The app should ask if you would like to pair to the Smart Trigger to your phone: select “pair,” then touch the words “Smart Trigger” in the Scan menu.

You should now be able to use the Smart Trigger with your phone.

If at any time you are running the Smart Trigger app and you turn Bluetooth off, you will not be able to re-pair until you quit the app and re-open it. Again, to quit the app: while on the home page of your iPhone, double click the home button then Swipe the Smart Trigger app window upward.

The method to re-pair should be very easy: When opening the Smart Trigger app (with Bluetooth on), navigate to the “Scan” menu. Simply click the button on the top of the Smart Trigger receiver once: after doing this, you will see a “progress wheel” for a brief moment next to the words “Smart Trigger” in the Smart Trigger app. Touch the words “Smart Trigger”  in the app (just like the initial pairing process) and you will be able to start using the app with your camera.

In short, restart the Smart Trigger app. Go to the Scan menu. Press the button on the receiver once, then touch “Smart Trigger” in the app. If you turn off Bluetooth at any time without quitting the app, you will have to restart the app and follow those steps to re-pair.

Must the Smart Trigger fit on the hot shoe of the camera or can it simply hang at its side from its cable? I prefer to put my GPS or wireless TTL radio flash trigger on the hot shoe but still want to use the Smart Trigger.

    • A.

You do not have to place the Smart Trigger receiver on the cameras hot shoe as long as the receiver is connected to the remote port on the camera. You may simply let it hang down which will free the hot shoe for your flash accessory.

Good Product - Very fast delivery to Europe Very Nice product, easy to set-up and run.
Now, just hope that the application will beimplemented with some new possibility, for example to shoot based on sound, or vibration, or other sensors a crazy one to use the phone camera to detect displacement...
Even without that, a must to have, very light and usefull device !!!!

Does all it says it does in a smart package! A great little package with an attractive price point!

Good construction and the device screws on nicely on the hotshoe mount. Quality of the receiver seems good. Easy to understand manual!

The iPhone app works flawlessly together with the receiver, no lag or "misfires" using the remote. Especially like the counter showing time when the shutter lock is enabled. Timed and intrval mode works perfect as well.

Overall very pleased with this product so far!

Looking forward to the Android app as well as this is my primary phone.

It works well. I have a canon wired shutter release. I love it, but I worry about the long cable, and having someone trip over the cable, and drag my camera to the ground, breaking things that cost too much to replace.

SOLVED! The Satechi Bluetooth Smart Trigger for my Canon 5D Mark II fixed that problem for me. It works well and I love it.

However, I would really love being able to plug my Canon Wired trigger into my iPhone, and use that to trip the Satechi iPhone Application, which then would trigger the Camera. … I like the feel of the canon trigger in my hand much more than holding the iPhone.

Excellent wireless shutter that works perfectly I’ve been using a no name brand intervalometer that admittedly was cheap, but the worst part was that the timing was off! I would set it for intervals of 10 seconds and the first shots would be at 10 seconds, but then they would be all over the place at 10.06, 9.90, 10.11, etc. Sure, not that big of a difference, but when you buy something, you expect it to work the way it states. This one isn’t very expensive either, so I had some reservations about it, but it’s been working great and best of all, the timing is perfect.
