Worked as advertised It works very well. I have a MAC so there were special steps that I had to take but they were all spelled out in FAQ's and by following those directions I was able to get it working completely and fairly quickly.

Excellent Product Love this product! Saw it being used at a workshop and wanted it for my classroom. It can control the mouse as well. Laser is awesome too. Great pointer to use across the room.

Smart Pointer review A nice accessory, easy to use for my Mac. It is sleek and well-designed except that it lacks an on/off switch to conserve battery power

Great design and great functions packed together!, Setup:
I have Windows 7 in my PC, once I plugged the thumb drive to my PC, it took less than a minute to recognize Sp800. I have tried all the buttons with MS PowerPoint, and every button works fine.

Sp800 work with 2 AAA batteries. I used it for about 2 weeks, no problems yet. I keep extra batteries in the pouch, in case batteries die out.

    Green Laser:
Sp800 has a green laser pointer which in my opinion projects better than red lasers. Also, it makes a nice difference for your presentations.

The longest range I tried Sp800 for was about 50 feet, and I was able to operate it with no lagging what so ever. Spectacular!

The position of forward and backward slide buttons are perfect for control. You can start and end presentations with a button. In order to pause the presentation, there is a blank screen button. My favorite is the Alt-tab button. It makes it so convenient to switch through different presentations.

There is a switch on the right side to select the mouse mode. It is useful to play embedded videos in my presentation. It is not smooth as a regular mouse of course, but I believe I can operate it better once my thumb gets used to it.

Overall, I strongly recommend Sp800 if you frequently make PowerPoint presentations. It makes your presentation professional and cool at the same time.

Mac-compatible, compact pointer and presenter I was looking for a presentation remote that:
    1. could flip through my slides
    2. was compatible with my MacBook Pro
    3. had a responsive, bright, green laser
    4. had a good arrangement of controls (I'll explain what this means below)
    5. was supported by the maker (Satechi)

Short answer: The SP800 met all these criteria, and I am very happy with it.

    Long answers:

    1. could flip through my slides:
I was not looking for much. I don't do anything fancy, so all I needed was something to advance each of my animations and slide transitions with a simple button click. This pointer has clearly marked "Prev" and "Next" buttons, which correspond (respectively) to the "up" and "down" keys on my Mac. I never have to worry about accidentally starting a movie or triggering a menu during a presentation.

    2. was compatible with my MacBook Pro (2009):
I am running Leopard on a 2009 MacBook Pro. The remote communicates wirelessly to a small USB receiver. I plugged it in, and my Mac initially thought it was keyboard. It asked if I wanted to identify the keyboard (by pressing specific keys) and I *skipped* this step. Afterward it allowed me to specify a keyboard, and I chose the U.S. option. After that it just works every time I plug it in.

    3. had a responsive, bright, green laser:
Integrated with the pointer is a Class II green laser emitting at 532 nm. It is just the right brightness, not too much or too little (some pointers are so bright, it hurts to look at the spot). It also turns on immediately. (Some pointers seem to have a lag between pressing the button and emitting the light.) One neat feature is that the laser automatically shuts off if you hold it down for more than 20 sec -- this prevents you from accidentally draining the battery while traveling.

    4. had a good arrangement of controls:
The Prev, Laser, and Next buttons are arranged, in that order, in a horizontal row across the remote, about where my thumb rests. I like this arrangement, because I never confuse Laser with Next, and yet they are both close to where my thumb is. Above this row are four buttons that can be used to control multimedia files or the mouse, depending on what mode you are in.

    5. was supported by the maker (Satechi)
I was impressed with the attentiveness of Satechi customer support. Immediately when the pointer arrived, customer support sent an email asking how the pointer was, and if it worked. It also came with batteries, so I could install them and immediately test it out -- nice touch.

Fantastic Device--Just what the DOC ordered! I don't have time to write as much as the other reviews(2), but everrything they said is true and more. This device is fantastic, great in the hand and easy to use.
Green is much better than red for the laser.
Moving the cursor with the mouse option can be a little slow at times, it is very exact and serves it's purpose well. It is great to be able to change from video clips to PPT and back.
    Better than I expected!
    A Happy User!

Gets the Job done well Really good presenter. The blue color is edgy, the green laser is nice, and the carrying case is great. It's nice that I can just plug it into my computer and start my presentation. Haven't really tried the mouse function yet, but it seems like it would be convenient if I'm on the other side of my lecture hall. The only issue I've had with it is that the buttons click quite loudly, but it just encourages me to speak louder during class.

Wish all Electronics companies were this good! I plugged it in and it started working fine on my ppt. I had a problem, the laser didn't work. I called customer service,(858) 268-1800, and they sent me a replacement via expedited shipping and paid for return postage! This is the kind of customer service that makes a person loyal to a company.

Great product! Used this twice in a month. Performed flawlessly, both as a mouse and a PPT controller. May drain battery a little quick and just like the red laser, the green disappears when pointed at a TV screen. But the product itself LOOKS good and works as advertised.

Great for classroom presentations This was ordered as a replacement for the SP400 Smart-Pointer with a red laser, which had finally given up. The older one had lasted about four years in a classroom setting with daily use and maybe a little abuse, as the students get to use it now and then! This model comes with a green laser, which is quite a bit brighter than the red and easier for the students to see, even from the back of the room.

The first new one I received would not connect with the receiver, but the return process was easy and fast. The replacement arrived within a few days of the order - a total of only six days between the first order and the arrival of the replacement. Very fast, and it's always nice to see a company that will back up their products.

    This model does not disappoint.

    1) Has a good feel in the hand, lightweight but not so lightweight as to feel cheap
    2) Buttons are conveniently located (see the possible exception under "Con"), although in different places compared with the SP400 - takes a little adjusting but not a problem
    3) Switch between mouse and slide advancement functions is fast and easy
    4) Mouse controls are easy (with a small learning curve) and effective
    5) Slide advancement is easy and convenient
    6) Laster pointer is bright and easily viewed from anywhere in the classroom
    7) Works flawlessly - very responsive without being too sensitive

The only possible issue is that the slide advancement button is a little far back on the unit, and the slideshow start/stop button is right above it and is closer to where the thumb naturally falls when the unit is held in the palm; in effect, this makes it very easy to get "trigger happy" and hit the wrong button, stopping the slideshow and making it necessary to start over and advance the slides to where you left off. Alternatively, you can restart the show, switch to the mouse function, right click, move the cursor down to "Go to slide" and click on that. This will give you a list of slides and you can scroll down the the one where you left off. This can be a bit awkward but can be done from anywhere in the room. You can always go to the computer itself and reset the slideshow to start where you left off.

This issue will probably improve with use (again, there is a learning curve), but this has happened more than once and it is inconvenient.

Overall a great product, especially for the price, and should last several years even with high usage.

Excellent product for a excellent price In search of a wireless presenter compatible with Macs, an awesome green laser, and easy-to-use features, this wireless presenter by Satechi fulfills all the criteria. The presenter is very easy to use and can switch between presenter and mouse modes. The green laser is bright, and there is no lag in becoming optimally bright. The presenter is also very easy to use and the best bang for the buck as presenters with a green laser are more expensive. The customer service is fantastic, too! After receiving the product, I received an e-mail from customer services asking if I receive the product in a timely fashion. I would recommend this presenter!
