This is usually a sign that the batteries in the device are close to being dead. Please try replacing them with a fresh set.

Please follow the easy steps to change the shortcut key of the smart pointer.

1.       On your Macbook Pro, go to “System Preferences”

2.       Select Keyboard.

3.       Click on “Keyboard Shortcuts”

4.       Click on “Application Shortcuts” on the left hand side.

5.       Under that window, there is a “+” button to add a shortcut. Click on that.

6.       From “Applications” choose “PowerPoint”. If you don’t see it on there, scroll all the way down and select “Other”. On the popup window, select PowerPoint (It can be in an Office folder)

7.       For “Menu Title”, write the command: Slide Show

8.       For “Keyboard Shortcut”, write the command: F5

9.       Click on the “Add” button.

10.   “Start Slideshow” button on SP400 wireless presenter should work with PowerPoint now.

*Note: If you use Macbook Pro, you may need to press Fn+F5 to make it appear as F5.

What should I do to make SP400 work with Mac computer??

A.
There are no special drivers for SP400 Wireless Presenter, it is a plug and play device.

Please reboot your system and make sure the USB stick of the presenter is not plugged when you do that. After the Mac fully starts up, plug in the USB stick and in a couple of seconds your Mac should recognize it.

Can I use Sp400 with HUDL Video player?

The purpose of this tutorial is to demonstrate the process of using a Smart Pointer to view presentations and video in Hudl.

Hudl gives you the option to wirelessly control your video playback. This can be used online with Hudl Presentations and video playback from your video library, and offline with Hudl Presenter. Using a Smart Pointer makes it easy to transition your video without having to be next to your computer or use a mouse. Connecting the Smart Pointer is quick and easy.

Smart Pointers are inexpensive, and can be purchased on satechi.net, click on the link below for additional information on purchasing your own Smart Pointer to use with Hudl.

The Smart Pointer remote will work in both Windows and Mac environments but will only work on Hudl.com at this time.

Using the Smart Pointer

To connect your Smart Pointer, simply plug the USB receiver into a USB Port. The pointer will work automatically, installing itself as a wireless keyboard(You may notice a driver installation window, this installation should take less than 30 seconds and must finish before you can use the remote).

Make sure the switch on the side of the remote (see the image below) is in the down position for presentation mode.

Based on the image, the following commands will be available:

Up

Single click: Previous clip/slide

Hold button: Rewind

Down

Single click: Next clip/slide

Hold button: Fast Forward

Right –

Single click: Play or Pause video

Hold button: Slow Forward

Left –

Single click: Restart Video

Hold button: Slow Rewind

Start – Doesn’t do anything in Hudl, currently.

Pause – Doesn’t do anything in Hudl, currently.

To stop using the Smart Pointer, remove the USB receiver from the USB port.

I'm very happy with my choice to purchase the Satechi SP400 Smart-Pointer. As one reviewer mentioned, you can hear a slight click sound when you push the buttons. But I'm not in a totally silent room, and then I'm also talking even when advancing to the next slide, so no one notices the sound.

The only feature I would like added is that when you use the start presentation button on the remote when in PowerPoint, I wish that it would start the slideshow at whatever slide is highlighted in the PowerPoint outline. It always starts the presentation back at the beginning. Whereas, if you use the start slideshow button in PowerPoint, it actually starts the slideshow at the slide where the cursor is located. It would be nice to have the option to have it start/resume the presentation at the slide that was last presented or where the mouse cursor it. I have to switch from PowerPoint to other apps and back again, and can't use the remote mouse to restart my presentation because it would restart at the beginning.

But I don't know if there is any remote mouse on the market that does resume/start the slideshow at the location where the mouse cursor is located. (if there is, please someone let me know which remote mouse does that). So overall, I'm very happy with the SmartPointer. It looks nice, is comfortable in my hand, installed quickly, is easy to use, and makes giving presentations so much easier. (Posted on 5/14/12)

I liked this overall product, the usb plug in and the size of the wireless presenter. Furthermore the travel case for the unit was handy. I also liked the 2 triple A batteries rather than a hard to find battery that some of the other recommended presenters require.

I did note early on in my trial runs that the start button did not work for my macbook pro. It requires further programming on my mac so the f5 command from the Satechi presenter keys into the Keynote presentation for the "on" or "play" command. I followed the directions at the Satechi site and it did not fix the problem. I found some instructions in the amazon reviews.

Here is a tip for Keynote users on the Mac. The remote is set up with non-programmable buttons, so the F5 button (designed for PowerPoint) doesn't work for starting your Keynote presentations...but it can. The trick is to change the keyboard shortcut in Keynote for Play Slideshow from cmd-option-P to F5. On Mac OS X v10.4+ you can go to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse and then the Keyboard Shortcuts tab. Click on the + icon to add a new shortcut. Choose Keynote as the application*, 'Play Slideshow' as the Menu Title, and then when you get to the Keyboard Shortcut box, hit the F5 button on the remote and it should insert F5 in the box (making sure, of course, that the USB receiver is plugged in to your Mac). Click on Add and you're all set. The next time you launch Keynote the new mapping will be in effect and you can now use the F5 button on the remote to start your slideshow. Hold down the F5 button for about 7 seconds to send ESCAPE, thus exiting the running slidehow. (Posted on 5/14/12)

Great sleek little remote/red laser pointer. Comes with 2 AAA batteries and a compact black case with interior pockets to hold everything. Worked instantly (plug and play) with my Dell laptop but not at all when I tried to use it on a colleague's Lenovo. His computer wouldn't "recognize" the USB in any of the ports for some reason. I typically get a "New Hardware Found/Installed" when I plug it into my laptop but this message never appeared on his. Lesson being- if you're about to give a presentation on an unfamiliar computer try out the hardware ahead of time to avoid last-minute panicking!

Unfortunately it is currently impossible to use the wireless remote in the "full screen" mode of Prezi. There is a way around this! Check the Prezi forum for full "work around" instructions, but my short-hand version of it (from the Prezi site):
1. Select the presentation
2. Click "Edit Prezi"
3. Press the space bar so that you are in the "show" mode
4. Press "M" so that the toolbars will disappear (I'm not sure if this actually works..I press "M" repeatedly and nothing happens but after a while the toolbars disappear. So, I'm not sure if those toolbars would have just disappeared anyway after a given amount of time or if the "M" function actually works.)

Your configuration may be different, but with my laptop, I press "down" on the remote to move forward in the path,"up" to move backwards, "left" to zoom out, "right" to zoom in. However, I have read this is not the same configuration for most people. Others usually have "left/right" to move forward/backwards and up/down for zoom in/out. (Posted on 5/14/12)
