Are you connecting the iPod to the device through usb cable? If so, this is the problem. The usb port is only for reading usb sticks/drives or usb mp3 players. You should try plugging the included audio cable from the headphone jack on your iPod to the input on the left side of the Soundfly. As far as the SD card not reading, have you checked to make sure it is in the proper format (FAT32)? I use my Soundfly SD with SD card for my music. I listen to a lot of audiobooks. How do I set up folders to separate these? What do you mean when you say up to 5 levels? Is there a way to translate the hour length according to folder size, audiobooks give the number of hours and minutes playing time. Thanks for your help.

A.
You can simply create as many new folders as you have audio books while the sd card is loaded in the computer (right click in the drive, select new, then click folder, drag each set of audio books to their corresponding new folders.) The 5 level depth is referring to having multiple folders within one another (a folder in another folder, in another folder, etc. up to 5 deep.) The folder size corresponds to the size of the files which then correlate to the quality of the audio file, not necessarily the duration. Thus there is no way to translate the hour length according to folder size.

Great sound quality even on 'busy' frequencies.
Quality of sound is worth the price alone. Far better than any other FM Transmitter that I have tried. The remote unit makes operating the Soundfly on the move much easier.
Would be a 5-Star product if it had a better Owner Manual that fully explained each function step by step. - Oculos

- One limitation It can't play m4a files from an SD card nor from a USB stick. All my files in iTunes are m4a. After putting 500 songs on an SD card Soundfly could not play them. I can connect my ipod or iPhone with a cable to the Soundfly unit and then the files will play. But I was hoping for the cleaner option of an SD card and no wires. The FM transmission is pretty quiet. Overall I like it despite the fact that it can only read mp3 files from the USB and SD card inputs.

10+
the device is excellent for what I purchased for: Audio Books, and music too. Having FF-Rewind gives it a big advantage to other low cost mp3 players.
I definitely recommend the product.

- Great product Was worried to try FM transmitter. All my previous ones were bad. This was awesome. sound was good and after sometime i forgot that i was listening to FM transmitter. Few cons on track selection and playing random tracks are there but i don't mind it given the sound. I havent tried it on long trips though but overall its really good.

- Great product I have really enjoyed my Soundfly. The sound is great with little interference or static from other stations. Plus my kids really like the remote since it gives them a chance to select songs (or skip songs) they want to hear and I don't have to be distracted by doing it for them. Well done Satechi.

Great product!
FM quality sound. Strong signal. Little to no static.LED easy to see display. Volume, equalizer and shuffle function.
Only thing is shuffle does not have memory so it will replay songs before list is done. - Gunner Sugden

Good sound quality, well built, but weird display
I found sound quality excellent - no probs with interference and havent had to retune in new locations as yet.
The web site says Soundfly will handle 99 folders and 1999 tracks.
Actually it will hold well in excess of 99 folders – I checked it up to 400 folders. However the folder number displayed on the Soundfly is only correct up to 99. Over that number, it displays a dash in front of the 2 digits. So folder 101 displays as ,d01 and 201 also displays as ,d01.
The folder number does not display via the car RDS/tag system.
With regard to the capacity of music files, the Soundfly displays correctly up to 1999 - however it seems to hold and play in excess of 9500. But the first digit can only display as 1, so eg track 2031 displays as 1031 etc.
The track number displays correctly via the RDS/tag system.
The folder ordering is also quirky. The RDS/tag system displays track number, artist, and track title. But it doesn’t display the album name. It orders by top level folder name, then by second level folder name etc as you would expect. However, it appears to order the shallowest folder depths first, and then the deeper ones after. So B/your_tracks, is before A/Ayour_tracks.
Bet bet would be to ensure unifrom folder depth.
Woould be 5* if not for quirky display.
