Would I be able to play music and look through the folders at the same time to see what I want to listen to next?

    • A.

Yes, you should be able to navigate through your folders as you listen to your music. To navigate through the folders on the USB drive/SD card, first press the Navi button then the MEM button located on the unit itself. The Soundfly should then display a list of folders (subfolders you created on the USB drive will also appear here, at the bottom of the list). To navigate to a desired folder use the << or >> buttons. Then press the play button to open the folder.

What is the sequence used when files are played? Is it by name? Date created? If it is by date, what is the secondary field used to sequence them when there are many files with the same date and time? File name?

    • A.

The Soundfly should play the files on the SD card in the order that they were copied on the SD card (indicated by the date created time stamp.)  In other words, if you want to play several files in a particular order, you will need to copy them to the SD card in the intended order. However, I would recommend adding a files/folders to the card waiting one minute then adding the next file and so on (so that the creation date is not the same as the previously added song).

Just ordered my soundfly so cannot try for myself my question is when coupled to radio via AUX using cable provided will the mp3 track details show on radio display as they would via fm transmission RDS

    • A.

Yes, they will be displayed if you are playing the MP3s from an SD card or USB drive and your car’s stereo supports RDS. If you are using the provided 3.5mm audio cable to connect an MP3 player, however, they will not be displayed since these cables cannot transmit data (only audio signal).

Excellent Product A friend had given me cheap FM transmitter made by another company, but that unit had multiple problems. I liked the concept so I researched the Soundfly unit and based on the positive reviews I purchased it. Even though this unit is relatively more expensive, I feel it is well worth the money. It has functioned almost flawlessly and the sound quality is very good. I have not experienced any loss of signal issues. The device control buttons work well and I especially like the fact you can turn the unit off without taking it out of the lighter. I use it mainly for music, but the bookmark function also works for music. The remote works well. It has worked well with my MP3 player, flash and SD cards. There is one section of the written instructions that was not clear but they have an instructional video that was very helpful in resolving that issue. I have only had the unit a short time, but if I have problems with use or durability I will update this review. So far great product.

Awesome mp3 Player I created an account here just to review this. That's how much I love this mp3 player. I haven't mucked around with all the settings yet but the sound is really great. I've bought a few different mp3 player fm transmitters and this one is by far the best. No interference noise at all, between songs like the others and shuffle appears to work much better as well.

Great product Its awesome product. I have installed it in my Acura TSX 2006 model. Flash drive works perfectly fine. As Acura TSX does not have option of replacing OEM stereo and does not support MP3 CDs, thus Soundfly AUX mp3 player works perfectly fine. I also have tried aux out of the player to connect to my car's aux in. it works great.
The output sound is little less amplified thus you have to increase the volume of stock stereo player in order to listen to the songs. The remote needs to be exactly pointed towards the soundfly player else it won't work.

Had it for 2-3 years... Hundreds of hours of AUX play time Can't say enough good about this little work horse. I've put HUNDREDS of hours of play time on it with a SD memory card and a direct AUX connection in my Pontiac G6 Convertible. Thank you, Satechi.

I do have one problem: the in dash power source into which I insert the Fly has precious little clearance with my shifter when it's in park. I have to cock it at an odd angle to avoid hitting the fly when I put the car in park. I'm looking into another 12 volt attachment to get around the problem.

Brilliant product I was amazed at how well this unit works. It produces great sound and is extremely easy to set up. Forget about the cheap junk FM transmitters, they are useless.
It also has a great advantage over the wired in MP3 units, in that this one can be moved from car to car with no effort. It's worth every cent.
I'm now using it in a 1999 Volvo C70 with SC900 stereo, and tx on 88.1.

Great music player I bought this as a replacement for my previous model (which unfortunately was stolen from my car whilst on holiday), It's a great item, compact yet very effective. I like the shuffle facility (although occasionally you do get the same songs crop up every so often) and the ability to play all my music off one flash drive. There is a limit to the number of songs the unit will recognise (which is less than the number of songs you can actually fit on a flash drive) but otherwise very pleased with it and happy to recommend it.

Excellent for the price The audio system of my year 2003 car does not support bluetooth nor has aux-in port.I had to figure out a way to integrate my Ipod Touch with the car audio.
    I had 3 options.

Option 1. Replace the factory radio with an after market media receiver.I did not
want to go this route as it entails discarding the existing system which has excellent sonics.(AM/FM Radio,6 disc CD changer and cassette player)

Option 2. Buy a CD/MP3-To-Cassette Adapter but no matter what kind of iPod cassette adapter you use, sometimes there's an audible hiss, other times the music isn't loud enough.

Option 3. Use a FM transmitter.I spent quite a bit of time looking at different FM transmitters.I wanted something that was going to work well and not cost a lot of money. There are a lots of cheap FM transmitters with poor reviews.
FM transmitters that had good reviews were much more expensive.
Finally I decided to take the plunge and purchased the well reviewed and reasonably priced Soundfly Aux FM Transmitter from Satechi for $44.99.

The unit is small, plugs directly into a cigarette lighter, comes with a handy little remote and has a lot more functions than you would expect.
Soundfly AUX lets you listen to MP3 sound files stored in portable memory devices like USB flash memory & SD card etc. You also have the ability to navigate through folders that contain full albums of music. It also lets you navigate through files and folders in your portable memory device.A 1.5 inch Black LCD screen shows playing time, artist name, song name, folder name.
It has RDS function that also lets you view artist and song name on your compatible radio display.
Other functions include bookmarking, repeat, shuffle & volume, treble, bass, contrast adjustment.
Soundfly AUX transmits to all FM frequencies (88.1MHz-107.9MHz) and memorizes up to 4 FM frequencies.Just plug USB stick or SD card in Sound-Fly Aux and enjoy static free music.
You can also transmit music from Mp3 players such as iPod etc.
In my case I connected the headphone out of Ipod Touch,to 3.5 mm input of the Soundfly. It sounded so good that after a few minutes I'd forgotten I was listening through FM radio.
Ipod connectivity problem solved at a very reasonable cost.I whole heartedly endorse this product.

Fantastic! I love it! I don't have an iPod or an iPhone, so I use an SD card. My entire Windows Media Player library is on the card with room to spare. The Bookmark function is great for reading books. I put books on a separate card to keep from having to navigate the device. Device navigation can be a little hard to remember, and the lady that does the demo video cover the buttons she's pressing so some experimenting is required. I wish they would reshoot the video slower and make it easier to see what she is doing. The remote is easier, but that means another device in the console. Overall, this is the best of it's class by far.

Great Device, unless... Absolutely excellent device, sound clarity is great. Using it in my 9 yr old Focus ATM.

Had it for about 6 months, and had no problems at all.

Mainly used for listening to Radio Shows, where order of tracks isn't that important BUT...

Then I started to listen to music, and the track order so far out the Album's become unrecognisable. Normally not an issue as such, until you start to listen to Musicals, where the track order actually IS important - ARGH - It now goes from first track to a track halfway through the act, to a track at the end of the act, and back again.... Someone tell me how to order them correctly (and yes they do have track numbers at the beginning of the file name (e.g. 01,02,03 etc...).

(oh and a minor one - shuffle repeats tracks - but that seems to have been sorted on the newer units).

Best FM transmitter I've ever owned... and I've owned them ALL This is bar none the best fm transmitter there is on the market. I've bought 80$ fm transmitters all the way down to 8 $ ones. This. is. the. best. one. period. ALL of the other FM transmitters require you to use your own juice to get the sound through your speakers. What would usually require full blast now requires just HALF that on the satechi. At first there was some distortion, but that was because i had the volume up too loud. ha. silly me. I dropped it down to half way and it was like listening to an AUX cabled Mp3. Just absolutely jaw dropping.

I plugged this bad boy in at night, and boy does this thing look absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me of the XM radio receivers. It has the AUX mode which i use, but also you can put an SD card in that suckers and listen using a REMOTE. yes. a REMOTE!!!! I can't say enough about this thing besides the fact that this price is so deserving of such a great product. i would buy them all if i could.

Very good product , functionality could be enhanced Good overall i liked the sound quality , the volume is a bit low when using the aux out, quick for songs to load with SD card. suggested enhancement would be a 4 way rocker switch on the front with folder navigation up & down and track navigation left to right. maybe also options to use playlists.

Perfect solution for me I have a 2004 Accord that I want to drive for at least two more years, but the CD player overheats and CDs are a hassle anyway. I was quoted a very high price to have a permanent cable installed to the in dash player and couldn't replace the dash player due to it's size and shape, and also the fact that heating and air conditioning controls are run through that same panel. This device works flawlessly and now I can use my MP3 player with my car's stereo speakers. It looks nice and is fairly intuitive to use. Very Happy!

Splendid Sound and Incredibly packaged product I had a Monster FM transmitter, but that only has a aux in facility, so it was a bit limited to playing from MP3 players or mobile phone, which then created the problem of charging that device too, and the wires created such a mess.
I saw this product on you tube and was really excited to see no wires, and USB and SD functionality apart from AUX in.
I have used it for 3 days now, it hasnt had any hiccups. Sound wise, its much clearer and crisper that the earlier one. Looks good, works wonderfully well with both USB and SD card, I have tried both.
The price is completely worth it, am taking a star away because I think the build quality, good as it is, cud have been better for the price charged.

all the reviews i found on google pointed to this one, and im not dissappointed when i got it i read all the instructions and thought it would take a long time to remember which buttons on the unit to press once or twice. But in the end i didnt need any of that, i just pluggged in my usb, plugged the thing into my cigarette lighter socket, the unit displayed that it was set to a 96.0 frequency, so i just tuned my radio to that frequency and it was already playing. So it literally takes 30 secs to get it working. Then i simply use the remote to reset the bookmark every time i get out the car and now ive got about 40 hours of my favourite music with perfect clarity every time i get in the car. There is probably a setting i can do so i dont have to bookmark everytime but i just havent gone back to reread the instructions yet. Cant talk about longevity yet as i only got the unit yesterday.

Sounds great, but navigates file folders poorly I have so far only tested this outside in front of my house, having bought it in preparation for a long road trip. I wanted more variety to listen to, and didn't want to take CDs this time. The sound quality of the SoundFly AUX is much better than I expected. Somehow I thought there'd be much more interference, static, and whatnot. The SoundFly itself is attractive and small, and the screen is easy to read.

Considering the amount of music I have available, and wanting to leave room for some audiobooks as well, I purchased a 16GB SD card. In retrospect, I could have gotten by with a card half the size, but that's not due to the amount of sound files I wanted to load. Rather, I used up my 99 folders so quickly that I was disappointed to find that I'd only used half the card's space! I actually had more than 100 folders loaded (who counts these things?), but had to consolidate some of them together to get the number down to 99!

My biggest issue, however, is that the instructions say I can have 99 folders up to 5 levels deep. I assumed this meant I could drill down to different subfolders while navigating (which is how I structured them on the SC card, by different genre categories) - but not so! They all display on a single level, in linear fashion, and I see no way to navigate through them all other than one at a time, and one click at a time. This is the worst part. I would at least hope to hold the remote button down, and let the folders scroll past, but you must actually click each one individually!

So I guess I wasted about 10 folders that I could have used for content by making them genre folders that will essentially be useless, until I get around to loading the SD card all over again from scratch. Plus I can see all this clicking will be a nuisance while on the road, and I hope it doesn't wear the button out. I am frankly surprised that this wasn't better thought out, because even my cheapest MP3 player has a better file ordering system. I have not yet tried to use it in conjunction with the SoundFly, but I will.

Well, since I travel with the passenger seat fully loaded with stuff for the trip, for my $40 and change, the SoundFly is indeed a significant improvement over carrying and changing lots of CDs. But its file structure system certainly leaves something to be desired.

Excellent product. Soundfly aux performs perfectly and totally reliably. The sound EQ system is very good with a balanced sound and nice base. The bookmark system is great and it restarts at the previous finish point. The quality is excellent but I wish I had bought the even more versatile Bluetooth version. I just did not realise how good these products would be. I fully recommend these Satechi products. Tommonz

Nice AUX MP3 Player w/ remote problems This AUX MP3 player works great. Nice and clear with no background feedback like you get with other products... However, after about a week the remote suddenly stopped working. I thought maybe it was a bad battery so I replaced it. But still no luck, my remote is dead.

Please contact to support@satechi.com, we will go head replace it for you,
    THanks

The Best FM Transmitter! Don't buy the cheap FM transmitters from other online sites that are around $5-$10...they don't compare to the built quality/ features of this unit. I'm very pleased with it so far. Does everything I want and then some.
And the remote works like a charm.

Great product My car did not have a radio with a lot of features. I added the Soundfly aux, and I have all my music on a 32 SD disk, and I can't say how much I love the product. The sound using the FM is wonderful. You can adjust the treble, bass and even dynamics. I recommend this product to anyone who wants to get rid of CDs and even MP3 players, and have a cleaner look in the car.

One very useful improvement-automatic bookmarking Great product with the exception of when you would like to continue the topic your listening to and you have to stop the car but not turn it off before you can BOOKMARK your place.
I carry my player in the center console lighter. plug out of sight and have to open the console to do a BOOKMARK.
It would be a great asset to have an automatic bookmark...

The sound is great and overrides even strong radio stationsin my area.
    I find it totally enjoyable.
