How does your system protect against brute fore attacks on the keypad. Is there any limitation to Pin Entries?

    • A.

The Lockdown has a user password protection feature where if an incorrect password is entered 3 times, the interval to enter the next password is lengthened continuously. For example, the interval for the 6th attempt is longer than the 5th attempt, which is longer than the 4th attempt, etc.

Dear Satechi Team. I am happy with Lockdown device. My questions are 1. How can I change the old password to the new one. 2. How can I completely delete a password. Thank you. Rustem.

By changing the password the old one will be deleted. In order to change the password, goto “Password Change” in the menu and press enter to run it. After inputting the current password, it will prompt for the new one.

Can I connect the LockDown to a TV that supports media from a hard drive?

    • A.

Yes. One of the great advantages of the LockDown is its ability to connect to any device which supports USB. After entering the password, it functions as a normal USB storage that can connect to any USB supported device.

If someone stole the hard drive enclosure and removed the HD from the Satechi case, would they be able to read the data from the drive?

    • A.

Even someone steal the hard drive (when a pin assigned to that hard drive) because of data will be encrypted they will not be able to reach the data in the disk.

Hello I have a question about Satechi LockDown USB 3.0 Super-Speed 256-bit Encrypted Portable External 2.5" SATA Hard Drive Enclosure Can the drive function with only a single USB cable plugged - using it both for power and data or does it require a separate power connector for power

    • A.

      Hi,

As long as you use USB 2.0 on your computer, one USB cable would be enough for power and data. If you planning to use USB 3.0 port of your computer, then you will need a second USB cable.

Small, easy to use, and secure. I use this to backup my laptop when i go to dinner when i am on travel All my data fits easily in the 256 Crucial M4 SSD I mounted in the case. I start the copy process in my hotel room and go to dinner. Laptop and drive are both secured by passwords so they are worthless except as pawn shop stuff.
If the computer is stolen, I have my data up to the previous night.
If the Drive is stolen, without the 8 digit password, it is inaccessable.
And pulling the drive and putting it into a computer just give you a drive of garbage.

Safe, fast and Portable. I use this to backup all my document data when I travel. I copy the data directories to the drive, leaving the machine locked in my hotel room. If the computer is stolen, I have my data safe. If the drive is stolen, it is secure because you can only access the encrypted data through the encrypted controler in the case. You can't "Clone" the drive or put it into another computer and hack on it.
If you travel and need secure storage with minimal hassle, this is the tool.
