    Router
Router mode allows the device to function as a typical router, connecting to the internet provided by your ISP and broadcasting a wireless signal, enabling you to create your own network.

    Repeater
The Wireless Mini Router can also be used in Repeater mode, which lets you connect to your existing network and amplify it. This enables you to extend the range of your wireless network – invaluable if you have a weak connection in a room far away from your router.

    Access Point
The Wireless Mini Router can create a wireless connection from  a wired source in Access Point mode. If only an ethernet port or ethernet cable is available, the router can connect to the wired connection and broadcast a wireless network that all your devices can connect to.

    Bridge
In Bridge mode, the Mini Router can connect to an existing wireless network and rebroadcast it under a new name; useful for organizing different users of your network into separate connections: for example, if you ran a coffee shop and wanted to create a separate network name for your customers to connect to.

    Client
In Client mode, the Wireless Mini Router connects to a device such as a Smart TV or video game console using an ethernet cable. The Mini Router can then be used as a wireless adapter, enabling the connected device to connect to the internet wirelessly.

Improve and extend internet access; easily connect and use your network with better range and using a variety of devices

Compatible with IEEE 802.11n/g/b devices and standards. Enjoy up to 300Mbps high-speed wireless with WLAN 802.11n

i finished the setup for using the wireless mini router repeater as a repeater, and it does not apear at the available networks.

    • A.

Once you setup your Mini Router in Repeater Mode the SSID will be the same as the original network, as it is rebroadcasting the signal from your primary router. Furthermore, the “Wireless-N” or “Satechi” signal from the Mini Router will disappear. Additionally, in this mode you won’t be able to access the Mini Router’s user interface (the 192.168.10.253 page).

I'm a software engineer looking for a small Wi-Fi module that can broadcast an SSID that is scannable from another device. Effectively, I'd like the Wi-Fi module to appear as an access point although I don't need or want anything to actually connect to it. With this device, is it able to be configured to broadcast an SSID without actually connecting an ethernet cable?

    • A.

Indeed, you should be able to broadcast an SSID through the Mini Router without an Ethernet cable if configured in Bridge Mode.

I would like to use the mini router as though as an access point where the WAN is a wireless connection instead of a wired connection. Can the bridge mode be set up to provide DHCP and NAT service for the users on the SSID provided by the mini router? I'd also like to set it so it used either WEP or WPA/WPA2 if WEP isn't available. If it can be set up this way what are the steps to do so? Thanks

    • A.

Indeed, you can configure the Mini Router to bridge two networks wirelessly by setting up the Bridge Mode. Once you set up Bridge Mode the DHCP and NAT services will be set up automatically. The way to setup Bridge Mode is the following:

      1. Plug the Wireless Mini Router into the wall. After approximately one minute, the WLAN light on the Mini Router will turn on — the Mini Router is now broadcasting a wireless network called “SATECHI” or “Wireless-N.”
      2. In your computer or other internet-accessible device, go to your wireless settings and connect to the “SATECHI” or “Wireless-N” network. To do this, you may have to disconnect from your current network. If your computer asks for a PIN or to “set up” your network, click “connect without setting up.”
      3. Once connected to “SATECHI” or “Wireless-N” in your internet browser navigate to the address “192.168.10.253” If prompted to enter a username and password, enter “admin” in both fields. This will direct you to the Mini Router’s settings page.
      4. Click “Wizard” in the left sidebar. You will be directed to the mode select menu.
      5. Select “Bridge Mode” and click “Next”.
      6. This will take you to a display where you can change the SSID and choose your Security Mode. You can pick between WPA, WPA2, and WPA/WPA2. It does not include WEP.
      7. In the same display you will see a list of the available networks. Choose the SSID of the target network and click “Select”.
      8. The target network’s SSID will be automatically filled; enter the password for your network, then click “Save & Reboot” to restart the router with the new settings.
      9. If successfully installed, you should be able to see the new SSID in the list of available networks and be able to connect to it.

The repeater works and is easy to install and it is not expensive. It's about time that computer related electronics manufactures make electronic components that actually plug in and play with euu driven configuration. I love your stuff. I have already recommended your company to my friends. This repeater I bought from you for $40 dollars replaced one I bought from Fry's for $160.00 and I had to call tech support to help me get it programmed. I watched your video and installed my new repeater in less that 15 minutes. I am plannintg to buy more repeaters and other equipment form you guys. Thanks. I just hope it lasts longer than a year. I only got 15 months out of the Fry's equipment. And the warrenty was convenientely over at 12 months.

Great Way to Extend Your Network My house is long and I was looking for a way to extend my current wireless network. My current wireless access point did not allow good connectivity throughout my house. I have moved it all over and could never find a good place to service the entire house. The Satechi Wireless Min Router solved my problem.

I set up the mini router as a repeater. It can be set up as a router, repeater, access point, bridge or client. The product description adequately explains what each mode does if you're not sure what mode you want. A YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1J07ZGN9QY) also walks you through any questions you might have.

After you plug it in, it will appear as a wireless network called Satechi. After you enter the IP 192.168.10.253 and the user name and password (admin for both) you will access the configuration page. I clicked on Wizard and selected Repeater as the mode I needed. It then scans local networks and I saw the SSID of my current wireless network. I selected it and entered my password and clicked Save and Reboot.

Here's where I ran into a bit of a problem, or so I thought. I saw a progress bar that told me not to disconnect the router, but nothing appeared to be happening. I thought I did something wrong. I finally figured out that I was no longer connected to the Satechi network, but my current one. This is why the configuration page would no longer work. The manual was unclear as to this point. So I wanted to see if the minirouter was actually extending my network. I used the Mac software iStumbler to verify my new connection and was able to see that the minirouter was seen and extending my network. I now had coverage in my whole house!

One other bit of information that was not present in the manual, but I was able to find on the Satechi website was the reset procedure for the router. (The manual says to hold the reset button down for 8-10 seconds, but that didn't work) Here is the info from the website "You can reset your wireless router, by holding down reset button 3 seconds, and let it go, than hold again until only power light is present ( This could take 8 to 10 seconds) . Than unplug wireless router and plugged back in. This should reset it." I can confirm that this procedure works.

The router is small (smaller than a deck of playing cards) and comes with a short piece of Ethernet cable. Overall, this is a great little router at a great asking price.

Excellent value Super easy to set up. just follow the instructions and you can't go wrong.
I use it as a repeater between floors and another one as a client for a desktop that does not have Wifi.
I am in the IT business and have set up dozens of home networks, as well as reconfigured my extensive network at home multiple times. At the new house I was ready to order data cabling to wire all the rooms, I really don't think I need it. The through put is sufficient for streaming HD video, having 8 wifi devices connected, even with the main router in the basement, the second floor PC works just fine. Now that I put a repeated on the first floor, I have full bars anywhere in the house. For 39 dollars, I say you can't go wrong with this solution.

My devices now shows full signal strength when prior I was typically getting 1 bar of signal strength. I highly recommend it if your looking for a repeater. Works Well My old Victorian house is a wi-fi mangling nightmare. I read about this mini router on Lifehacker and bought two to use as repeaters for multiple areas. They were easy to set up and they work like a charm. I get better coverage with two of these, correctly placed, than I did with a dd-wrt hacked router I set up as a repeater, and at $40 a pop, two of these costs less than many well regarded single units. They're relatively unobtrusive, and the portability is an excellent feature.

Excellent Value! I was about to purchase a brand-new $200 plus router to try to increase the signal strength from my home office to the rest of my house. In the evening when I was upstairs in my bedroom I had to turn on the portable hotspot in my room to use my tablet. I saw an online review for Wireless Multifunction Mini Router that was on sale for $39 and figure what did I have to lose?

This was the Best Buy ever! I plug it in at the top of my stairs and I receive Wi-Fi in my bedroom has if the main router was sitting right next to me. It took me 5 min. to set it up as a repeater and I was up and running.

Satechi is obviously aware of this and thus emailed me a great set of instructions so it worked out fine. They should put a sticker on the device with a link to the instructions. Very happy with the product.

good repeater Repeater is working well. Customers need to view web site installation video to understand installation if they are unfamiliar with jargon in the manual. The manual was hard to follow. While clear now, it was not initially clear to reset the min-router when mode is to be changed.

Amazing. Well, my plan was to use this as a repeater and it worked great.

Took it out of the box, plugged it into a random socket; used the LAN cable on the laptop to access the wizard on the device.. selected my AP, entered the password.. save. done.

Unplugged, moved it upstairs ... worked right away.

    Total time: 5 minutes.

Only wish it had a nighitlight, that would be sic.

Exactly what I wanted. This mini router is awesome. I was worried that its size would limit its range, but it covers our entire apartment. Speeds are not a problem either. We have five devices connected all the time and it handled like a champ. It makes me wonder why other routers are so big. Set up was really easy as well.

Use it everyday at home and work. I actually love the wireless multifunction mini router. I bring it to work and use it as a router and at home I use it as a repeater.

Very slick product with great functionality. Bought to use as a repeater for my son's room upstairs from where the main router is located. Very easy set up and works like a charm. Great product and would recommend to anyone looking to boost their WiFi strength.

Really Good solution I needed to extend a weak signal in a plaster house (lots of metal mesh in the walls) and the unit was a breeze to set up and works great.

Works just as advertised! I purchased this due to lackluster WIFI performance of my iPhone 5. I could see two bars of WIFI from my U-Verse Internet Service on my phone, but couldn't transmit any data when I got to the outside edge of my home and it would constantly switch to cellular data. I installed this baby and just as described, it was quick and easy to setup, I reconfigured it to be a repeater and I'm connecting to WIFI without any major issues. Only minor niggle is occasionally my phone will linger with one or the other access points (Gateway or the Satechi) and I'll simply have to cycle the WIFI to get it to switch, but after that it works great! Compared to not having WIFI, this is an amazingly simple solution to a rather irritating problem!

Excellent product Very nice product, compact, easy to configure and use. Only suggestion would be collapsable pins for the power.
