So it did not register, that the presentation remote capabilities work only on desktop or laptop computers but not on iOS devices. : Good Product With all the various state laws regarding utilizing cell phone while driving, this little product does not require you to remove your focus from the road.
Can easily control volume, track selection and activate and use Siri without touching the phone.

Easy to setup. It re-connects to the iPad within seconds when switched on again.
I purchased the remote control for my iPad to be able to control mainly my audio books.
I use it to go back a chapter, rewind, fast forward and change the volume.
This is done at night so I find I can feel the buttons on the device. I get the orientation from the on-off switch.
Works well with the Apple Music App, Audible app and AudioTracker (iPhone edition). Some iPad players have not implemented the controls correctly to the apple specifications and therefore do not recognize the FF/RW but all seem to work with the volume and Play/Stop buttons.

: Absolutely brilliant I have been using the remote for a couple of weeks now, and it has been absolutely brilliant. I listen to podcasts on my ipad when I'm out, and it was a pain to pause and change volume. Using the remote makes it a heck of a lot easier to do these things.

The only problem I find is that you have to be carefull not to knock the remote when its in your pocket, as it may accidentally hit one of the buttons. Having a hole for a lanyard would be great in this respect.

That aside, the remote is pretty solid little device, and fits easily into your pocket.

Overall, this is a great Bluetooth remote, and I highly recomend it to anyone who is thinking about buying it.

: from an Android user I've been looking for something like this that would work with Android but was having trouble finding something suitable. After reading a few bits and pieces, including a review that said it worked with a Samsung Galaxy S3, I decided to take a punt. So..

It pretty much works as advertised with a Samsung Galaxy S2 running Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Specially, with the stable version of Cyanogenmod 9. However, there's a couple of small problems that require workarounds.

Firstly, the buttons are designed for iPhone and don't translate fully to Android functions. The keyboard button (lower left) doesn't seem to do anything and the camera shutter doesn't work to trigger the camera. It's possible to remap them with a texteditor and a key tester tool but I haven't bothered as the media controls themselves work perfectly.

The second problem is related to a known issue with Bluetooth with ICS and may also occur in other versions of Android. What seems to happen is that if there's no interaction between the phone and the remote for a certain period then the connection will not automatically re-establish. I'd tried making sure the phone was always visible but it still seems to drop and then fail to renegotiate - requiring the user to enter the Bluetooth menus on the phone to reconnect.

HOWEVER, I managed to find a workaround that fixes this via an app named Bluetooth Keepalive (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.floodping.BluetoothKeepalive&hl=en). This prevents the sort of sleeping that would normally happen and so allows the devices to stay connected to each other. I tested this overnight - I left Bluetooth on the phone switched on before I went to bed and then when I woke up I pressed the Play/Pause button on the remote and it immediately resumed the media file I had loaded.

Hopefully this information may be useful. Take with a pinch of salt, however, other users may have different Android experiences.

: Great in-car device I have mounted this behind the steering wheel in my 2005 VW polo (next to where I rest my fingers) and have my iPhone hooked up to the car's AUX-in. This works like a charm - it's so useful to be able to activate Siri and choose a song at will, whilst charging my iPhone at the same time through my 12v port.

I wish the construction were a little higher quality, light up keys would be a bonus and most importantly *it would be much easier to mount if it had a flat rather than curved shape and if it were just a touch smaller (in terms of height)*.

Finally, I can't work out if it's turning itself off after periods of inactivity or whether this HAS to be done manually (with the off button on the side) but even with room for improvement it is the best value in-car control solution on the market at the moment.
: Great Product This is a great product and exactly what I was looking for. You can control your iphone music play, sound, ect while not impacting the device output to run an amp and the charging port. I'm using the remote for a cooler stereo and this is a great add to the system.

For future R&D I'd recommend developing into a waterproof unit. Many of us are using this remote to control cooler stereos of which are used on the boat, floating the river, etc...

The construction is similar to the dedicated mini remotes that come with speaker docks, not the aluminum Apple remote. The battery compartment is extremely difficult to open, a surprising design choice considering the remote is not re-chargeable.

The ability to remember multiple device pairings would bring my review to 4 stars. More attention to detail in design, like an aluminum body, backlit keys and easier access to batteries would up the review to 5 stars.

However for the price I believe it should have a few more features such as rechargeable batteries, the ability to go to sleep or auto off instead of flipping a physical switch to turn off, in the slide out number pad should be numeric/alpha. : Very useful for iPhone control in a car I purchased this item for controlling my iPhone during driving a car. My iPhone is always in a glovebox of my car to listen music through car speakers but it is very hard to skip music because it is dangerous to open the glovebox... This item makes me skip music easily with remote control. It is easy to push buttons of this controller during driving.

: Wish your iOS device had buttons? In the past I had always been well accustomed to an iPod classic. I was able to adjust the volume, skip through tracks and pause by feel alone, without needing to ever even look at the device. This was useful if I had my iPod connected to my car stereo.

However, with my transition to an iPod touch, I no longer had the ability to do this as everything was operated by a touch screen. It was often tedious and distracting to have to drop what I was focusing on to look at the iPod touch for simple tasks.

This remote control is exactly the solution I was looking for. With tangible buttons, I am able to quickly operate my iPod touch while driving, while it is tucked away in a travel back, or while it is on a sound system dock.

The remote itself comes in a snazzy package which correlates well with the quality of the device. A battery is already provided so by following the included instructions, you'll have the remote working with your iDevice in under a minute. Overall, its design and construction is of very high quality.

The fact that the remote requires a power switch and a couple seconds to reconnect itself with the iDevice each time is slightly inconvenient, but not a big deal. The need for a button to show/hide the keyboard is a little silly, but that is the nature of iOS and not a shortcoming of the remote itself.

The operating range is fantastic and I was able to control my iPod touch from the other side of my house.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

: Excellent Product For driving, this is the perfect device. I know hold this in my hand to control my music. Prior, I have to have a jailbroken IPhone in order to use the buttons on my volume to control the playback. I would recommend this for safety and for ease of use. : Does exactly what it says, works great with iPhone 4S I bought the Satechi Bluetooth remote for use in my car, so that I don't have to take my eyes off of the road in order to control my iPhone, which I use to play music through my stereo. The remote works exactly as advertised: control of music works consistently, and it is capable of activating Siri, which makes it very easy to send text messages without taking my eyes off of the road. I haven't yet used it for triggering the camera, but I am looking forward to doing so.

Unfortunately, the remote uses button cell batteries, rather than being rechargeable. Also, since I intended to use the remote primarily in my car, I was hoping to have a way to mount it to my steering wheel so that no only would I not have to take my eyes off of the road, but I also wouldn't have to remove my hands from the steering wheel to control my phone. Unfortunately, the remote is a bit too big for this (owing probably to the hidden keyboard), and there is no obvious way to mount it to anything (no place to attach a strap, etc.).

I still feel safer about reaching down into my cup holder -- without looking -- and grabbing the remote than I do about actually taking my eyes off of the road to control my iPhone, so this remote is still an improvement. It's just a shame that it couldn't be rechargeable and mountable.
